Serving Boards – Features and Types

A serving board for snacks made of wood stands out not only for its unique texture but also for its antibacterial properties, making it perfect for serving a variety of cheeses and cold cuts. Additionally, it is highly resistant to acids and moisture, making it an ideal solution for professional gastronomy.

A starter board made of slate stone impresses with its unique structure, giving the served dishes a distinctive character. Slate stone is resistant to damage and abrasion, making it perfect for venues that need to serve a large number of guests. The slate surface also offers exceptional thermal resistance, allowing for the safe serving of dishes at various temperatures.

A cheese and cold cuts board made of melamine is the perfect choice for those who value practicality. Melamine is durable, scratch-resistant, and highly resistant to disinfectants used in the food service industry. It is an excellent choice for catering establishments where speed of service and long-term equipment durability are essential.

Regardless of the material or shape chosen, serving boards are very easy to clean. Simply wash them with a mild detergent and let them dry, while maintaining all hygienic properties required in professional gastronomy.

Our offering includes 7 main categories of serving boards:

  • Oak wood boards – known for their exceptional hardness and natural moisture resistance. Ideal for serving sushi and Asian delicacies where presentation is key. Standard dimensions of 17x35x2 cm provide optimal proportions for most culinary applications.
  • Acacia wood boards with slate elements – an innovative solution combining the warmth of natural wood with the functionality of stone. The slate-covered section allows for labeling dishes with chalk, which is especially appreciated by restaurants offering tasting and seasonal menus.
  • Olive wood boards – available in 25x17 cm formats and larger sizes, made from solid olive wood. Each piece features a unique grain pattern, adding individual character to food presentation. Equipped with a hanging hole for convenient storage.
  • APS designer boards – a premium series characterized by elegant styling, solid craftsmanship, and an affordable price. A designer element that impresses with elegance and functionality, ensuring durability and easy maintenance.
  • Crazy Wood boards – a line distinguished by unconventional shapes and wood textures. Each board serves not only as a practical kitchen tool but also as a stylish accessory that enhances the elegance and professionalism of dish presentation.
  • Slate stone boards – offer superior mechanical resistance and the option of personalization through chalk writing. The natural slate structure maintains a stable temperature for served dishes.
  • Melamine boards – designed for heavy commercial use, characterized by exceptional practicality and the ability to withstand years of demanding gastronomic conditions.

Uses of Snack Boards in Gastronomy

In bars, a snack board is perfect for displaying skewers, tapas, or antipasti. Their aesthetic presentation is important, so serving food on a dedicated board certainly draws guests’ attention and enhances their satisfaction with the service. Boards made from various materials, from wood to stone, allow the presentation to match the bar’s character and menu, creating a cohesive visual concept.

Restaurants cannot do without elegant presentation trays. They use them to showcase the finest cheeses from around the world, regional cold cuts, and other delicacies. A wooden cheese serving board works perfectly in rustic interiors, enhancing the décor and creating an authentic atmosphere.

Boards for serving cold cuts and cheeses are ideal for breakfast buffets in hotels. Here, a melamine board is particularly practical, as it can be used for many years. In a hotel buffet with high guest turnover, the durability of a cold cuts board is extremely important and directly affects operational efficiency.

Technical Specifications and Material Properties

Natural wood has a moisture absorption rate of 8-12%, ensuring dimensional stability with proper maintenance. Its natural antibacterial properties stem from tannins present in the wood structure, particularly evident in oak and olive wood. Wooden surfaces require periodic treatment with food-grade oil to maintain their hydrophobic properties.

Slate stone has a density of 2.7-2.8 g/cm³ and very low porosity below 1%. Its thermal resistance reaches up to 250°C, allowing for the safe serving of dishes at different temperatures. Natural slate requires periodic treatment with mineral oil to maintain optimal usability.

Melamine is resistant to organic acids with a pH of up to 3.5 and bases up to pH 11. Its operating temperature range is -20°C to +70°C, making it suitable for a wide range of gastronomic applications. The material complies with food safety standards and HACCP requirements.

What to Consider When Choosing a Snack Board?

It’s important to consider the material of the cheese boards. If you want a board that enhances aesthetics and highlights the character of the served dishes, choose wooden models with a natural grain. If you need a product with high damage resistance for busy service times where the board must last for many years, opt for slate or melamine. The right choice of cold cuts board depends on the venue’s style, usage intensity, and presentation concept.
